The LAUSD Board of Education certified the Final MND for the Monseñor Oscar Romero Charter School (MORCS) on Tuesday December 9, 2014. Impact Sciences published the Draft MND in August of this year and completed the Final MND in October. In addition, the Board approved the project, allowing YPI Charter Schools, Inc.to move forward with construction of the new middle school. While MORCS currently operates on the Berendo Middle School campus, the new school would operate adjacent to Berendo Middle School and include three one- and two-story buildings, a landscaped courtyard, and subterranean parking, as well as the removal of 10 existing bungalow buildings from various locations on the Berendo Middle School campus. In a separate decision, unrelated to the project, the LAUSD Board of Education approved funding for the construction of a new gym on the Berendo Middle School Campus. Congrats to the MORCS team!
